No sooner than the government had confirmed that referral fees would definitely be banned as of 1st April 2013, AND that RTA Portal fees were to be slashed by 60% (more than expected) AND that it had decided to increase the portal limit to £25,000 AND that it was going to extend the portal to cover EL and PL cases.... pause for breath for a moment, as that is one hell of a lot of reform to take in all in one go..... ok, on we go....than Lord Chancellor Chris Grayling announced on the 11th December 2012, that a four month consultation was to be launched that very morning (why hang about?) outlining...

Sun, Sea and Balconing: the Role of the Coroner Following Deaths Abroad - Chris Deacon & Daniel Scognamiglio, Blake Lapthorn
02/01/13. By mid-summer 2012, there had been thirteen recorded incidents involving Brits falling from balconies abroad. Three of those cases resulted in deaths and the others in serious, life changing injuries. The victims will often be male, aged 24-30 and have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs. For resorts like Magaluf on the Spanish island of Majorca 'balconing' has become a concerning phenomenon. The term refers to the act of purposely throwing oneself from a balcony often into the swimming pool below. Some balcony falls are caused by individuals trying to climb from one balcony to the next or from holidaymakers sitting on the edge of the balcony rail or wall...
