Examining the Case of Alcock -v- Chief Constable of South Yorkshire (1991) - John van der Luit-Drummond
28/11/12. One of the most important and contentious psychiatric injury cases in recent history sprang up as a result of the events at Hillsborough on 15th April 1989. Twenty-three years on there remains questions as to whether or not the right decision was arrived at and whether or not the law on psychiatric injury should be changed. Editorial: Completion of Credit Hire Book - Aidan Ellis, Temple Garden Chambers
21/11/12. Last weekend I put the finishing touches to the closing chapters of the new edition of Kevan and Ellis on Credit Hire. The finished book should be available online through this website shortly. On a personal level, updating my own copy has been an interesting experience. What follows is a practical guide, which I hope will be helpful for those embarking on these cases for the first time.

The Discount Rate: Ministry of Justice Consultation Paper - Andrew Sands & Nick Leech, Nestor Partnership
19/11/12. A sign of movement in the discount rate saga took the form of a Consultation Paper, inviting those with an interest in personal injury claims to respond by 23rd October 2012. The executive summary to the lengthy paper accepts that, on the current methodology, there is a risk that the present rate may now be too high. Andrew Sands and Nick Leech, specialist financial advisers at Nestor Partnership, analyse the dual approach that the Consultation appears to be taking.
