Elder Mediation - Steve Hancox, ADR Group Accredited Civil & Commercial Mediator

01/06/12. On 11th – 13th June the University of Strathclyde hosts the “5th World Summit and Symposium on Elder Mediation”, but when I mentioned Elder Mediation at a mediators’ lunch a few weeks ago the expression floated away on a sea of blank faces.  No-one knew what I was talking about.  

Pioneered in Canada more than 20 years ago, the benefits of this branch of mediation are gradually becoming recognised further afield.   Elder Mediation Canada (and the related Elder Mediation International) are still at the forefront, with specialist certification and a distinct “Code of Professional Conduct for Mediators Specialising in Issues of Aging”, but a number of organisations and individual mediators are offering this service (and training) in the UK.
